Default Any special tools required to replace front rotors?

Sears is charging about $70 to recondition the rotor (not sure if they said per rotor) and that's only if they're not to bad. But I think I can get new rotors elsewhere for about the same price and just install them mysef. I replaced them once on my Camaro SS with standard sockets and allen wrench but not sure if these cars are much different. Thanks in advance.

7mm allen drivers to get the calipers off the carriers and 22mm socket to get the carrier bolts off. They are torqued to about 100 ft lbs so you might have to wrestle with them or use an impact gun. Otherwise its a pretty simple operation. Rotors are held on by the wheel studs so there aren't any fasteners for those. Good luck.

Ha Ha! Thats where the danger lies! My Caliper hanger bolts were stuck fast, I went through 2 breaker bars, a can of gas for the heat gun and they still wouldn't budge! In the end it took 3 Bus mechanics 1/2 at the depot to get them off!

What I'm saying is: Be prepared!

That is why a good impact wrench, compressor and a can of PB spray is part of my arsenal when taking on a project like this. A trick I learned is to tighten then loosen and do it again if it does not work the first time.

I was not as smart as Gus. Did mine a couple of years ago, I got the carrier bolts off, but damn near got a hernia at the same time!
