@ SeanB: I insured it with Classicline insurance who were very good. They will also be gettin my Herald when it is finished on a joint policy type thing. Like your 100 my Herald only needs paint & trim now.

As above.

One thing to consider about the hike in premium. Remember the insurance companies do not just insure cars but also property, and have financial markets as well.

So with the £billions in claims due to the floods in 07,08,09,10 and expected 11 and the collapse in finances, they see a profits problem, and pass on the problem to their captive audience ie you and me. After all it is a legal requirement to have your car correctly insured.

And if you are in the UK, don't go down the route of having Granny insuring the Ferrari, you will find that you are not insured in the event of a claim or roadside check, leading to the car being impounded.

For info, my 92XJ40, 3PFT = 750 euros/year, full no claims and clean 30 year licence!

I even tried to get a group policy on the 4 cars in which I am the only driver, with the argument that I can only drive one at a time, of course no joy.

So, good to see that you found a company to help you out.

I insure two vehicles in California also. $1400/year with FULL coverage and $500/$250 deductibles, but only because my wife has only been driving for about 6 years. Otherwise, it's closer to about $900/year. I've been licensed since 1983 with 0 ZERO claims.

And I thought we had it bad at US $4.00 for Premium. Hmmm, maybe I won't move after all... Our government is all messed up right now, but I guess it could be worse.

Someday, someone's going to walk into all our governments buildings and put them all out on the street so we can start over. It's only a matter of time. Corruption is rampant in all our countries and nobody is held accountable anymore. (Sorry for the Political Views)

I have my XJ8 insured with footman james.
Its fully comp for me and my wife, social domestic and commuting, breakdown cover, european cover.
Limited to 3000 miles a year.
This is on a classic car policy.
Its i think £210 for the year.
Footman james class any Jaguar over 5 years old as a classic car.

Get an old diesel Mercedes and beat that around!

I have historic plates on my 1975 280S and pay $175 every 6 months for its insurance, full coverage.

Sadly the "Old Diesel Beater" method doesn't work here in the UK. Diesel costs more than Petrol at £1.40 a litre!

It is difficult to try and enjoy driving these days when every time you take your car out you have to do a maths equation to see if you can afford to do it!

It's really not mate, with this current government soon we'll have VAT on the air we breathe, and even that will be privatised.

It sucks.
