while my 1999 VDP was parked and waiting for fuel pump replacement, rodents invaded the wiring and, at the very least chewed through the main cable running from the battery to the front. the brerak is on the driver's side just outside the firewall bulkhead. What is the easiest way (most practical) to replace this section of the cable? It appears that somewhere on the passenbger side the cable splits to send one wire to a jump point on the passenger side of the engine compartment whil the other branch crosses the engine bay and emerges through the firewall bulkhead near the brake booster. Any advice, recommendations, pictures or videos for this repair would be appreciated.

 

The split appears to be much earlier, somewhere under the right side of the rear seat (cables #2 and #4 on the diagram).
