Unhappy Big Cat Got Crunched

Hello Chaps!

Today was my first weekday off in a long time. I'd worked late last night only finishing at 2:30am, and woke this morning at 11am. I decided to take a nice cruise down town to the city and to take my Triumph's bumpers for re-chroming. En route I decided to stop off at a Cafe I used to frequent when I worked at my old Depot so pointed the Jag in the direction of Stan's.

Whilst I was approaching a set of traffic lights, a gentleman in a Vauxhall Corsa neglected to look to his right when leaving the side road and slammed straight into the left side of my XJ . Because I was moving he has damaged my passenger door, rear door, alloy wheel and rear bumper. Luckily for me there was a Police officer leaving the Police station who saw everything so everything was sorted nicely. I was not at fault of course.

After contacting my insurance, they are going to fix it and give me a "like for like" hire car whilst my car is mended. But it is so annoying there are careless people out there. And all I wanted was a Full English and a cup of tea!

That truly hurts! I hope it is a simple effort on your part to get proper repairs and that they do a job that is indistinguishable from the original.

I know! If he'd hit me any harder I'd have gone into the central reservation, which is littered with lamp posts and divides the road with a steel fence.

According to the guy I spoke to from the insurance my car will be fully valeted and polished upon it's return to me. Saves me the task of doing it!

I can totally agree with that sentiment.....18ft long.

I'm gutted for him, it was only last week we spent time sorting out the couple of little electric irritants he decided to sort out, but the good thing about it is he's got it in a body-shop I personally know are excellent.

No airbags or warning lights Stu?

Nope! Actually the car seemed to handle it quite well, but it was relatively low speed, I was moving around 25mph. When he hit there was a crunch and the jag lent over a little but that was all. Still goes ok, no nasty noises and no lights.

This whole event has totally ruined my plans for the weekend though...

Just as I saw your thread on the main page I thought there had been a major incident but luckily it was not that hard as I thought and I am happy everyone including even your cat is slightly ok .
I wish you happy safe and incident free driving

Looks like most of the damage is to the right rear door. Maybe you can get a complete re-spray out of it, or at least a complete buff job. Sorry to hear. Nice wheels though.
