Noob question. I just bought a 2003 XJR. The brakes have pretty calipers that say Jaguar on them. Are these Brembo brakes or something else? Also, are these the 'Milan' two piece wheels? Oh, and why 2 piece? (18" Wheel).

Yup, that is the R1 package that has Brembo calipers. I have ideas about the two piece BBS philosophy, but will leave that up to someone else to answer.

 

the wheels are so called 2 piece because the centres are bolted to the outer rim by spline drive titanium bolts. Did the car come with the special BBS valve adaptor kit? because if that's missing you'll have trouble getting air in the tyres!
Do the brakes squeal?

There are 2 of the adapters included. I can see where those could come in handy. Are there any special mounting requirements for when I need new tires? Also, as of yet, the brakes do not make any noise.

 

yes the R1 package...brembo calpiers, jaguar rotors, and 18" milan wheels in silver (they also came in oyster (a light tan)...

i've had no issue getting pads, although the mintex squeal a lot..the rotors has been a whole other fiasco as jaguar made them, and brembo doesnt' have a replacement
