Burning smell in hard acceleraton
When hitting the gas hard, I smell what seems like burning rubber in the cabin. It's not tires as it happens when going from 40 hard up to 90, and stays in the cabin for 30sec or so after I let off the gas, sometimes longer.
I thought it might be the supercharger belt as it sqeaks during the winter, but when I stick my nose near it when I stop I don't smell anything weird from the engine bay.
I don't know what burning synthetic oil smells like, but I see no oil smoke and it doesn't smell like regular oil burning, or coolant.
Any idea for sources other than the SC belt?
The valve cover used to leak oil on the exhaust manifold and that would burn, but I cleaned that off thousands of miles ago so I feel any excess should have burned off by now.

Yeah, the thing is I cleaned the metal 'pan' over the manifold but underneath the above the valve covers a year or two ago, and it is still clean on both sides.
I think I will figure out what tool I need to take the tension off the super charger belt, and drive it without the SC and see if it happens. Hopefully the tool is not expensive/special...

Mine doesn't use a whole lot of oil, but it's an old car. I noticed that there is a lot of grime on top of the block under the intake (N/A) car, so it's not just the SC cars that have this issue. My guess is a drop of oil or just a lot of heat from the engine burning any grime that may have come into contact with it.

In my case it doesn't smell like anything is burning, it just smells like a hot engine, kind of like the smell you get from the heat in the house the first time you fire it up in the winter.
When I first got the car, I romped on it and smelled it so I pulled over, popped the hood and took a good look at everything, all looked OK so I have never really worried about it. Still does it when I get on it.
Does that make sense?

If you need to do 115 to pass someone you describe as having "slowed up", your perception of slow is questionable, lol
