Default Burping & Squeezing

I have been following the MrTexasDan coolant flush procedure on my 4.0 litre XKR and I am now doing the Chemical Flush part and I have managed to get in 6.5 litres in so far and I am finding that getting the remaining 3 litres into the car from Burping & Squeezing very slow and time consuming.

Any tips on how to improve on this or have I missed something? ( I have not removed the thermostat as yet)

Why not empty it,, refill it, start it up and as space opens in the bottle, add more . . . why make this complicated: it's a car!

I, too, like Jim (Jhartz) above, think that a coolant flush is no rocket science.
I just found a video, where someone does it already way more thorough as I would do it (but I did not have a system that dirty yet) - so maybe that helps:

And maybe the last chapter of that video is the actual answer to your question - the answer being that he lets the ENGINE RUN, WHILE he is filling in the remaining amount of fluid, which did not want to get in there before...

Thanks Peter for the link I have seen the video before and I know its not rocket science
I am simply asking how does it take to burp the system to make sure their are no airlocks

Have you taken the big allen socket out the top of the supercharger? it's a 19mm key & without that the intercoolers trap loads of air.

As I recall the correct procedure someone posted recently, You fill the system as normal, take that plug out & fill it there too.

This is the SEDAN forum section but the engines are the same for the XK.

You will have better info posting in the correct section.

Also looks like EARLY XK with the chrome throttle vacuum actuator. (I wish I had saved a few 'back-in-the-day')

I have now changed to using only a vacuum filler. Once you try one you won't use any other method.
Works surprisingly well and I wish I had purchased one years ago.

I have the OEM brand but I don't recommend it just because there are too many other good unit's out there. Not much to the tool so it's a commodity type purchase.
Mine has more than paid for itself.

I have the black plastic case which I much prefer and it looks like it's now neon green.

About $100 and they are all over too.
Vacuum Filler Vacuum Filler

Yea I just laugh when I see the massive funnel and all the adapter's and conniptions people go thru squeezing air out and bleeding it out. Parking the car up hill. All that goes away with vacuum filler. I might need to top up the coolant a bit after several weeks but it's very minor. I just could not believe it worked that well and the first time I used it I bet I checked the coolant level a dozen times!

Ahh you confused us with your first post then when you said it's a XKR.

I know in UK models & I think everywhere else the XKR is supercharged & the rest are XK8s. Like the XJR & XJ8 for the saloons.

I made my own vacuum filler with two 5 gallon containers, one for VW G12 and the other for the Jaguar ORANGE. (dexcool)

A rubber stopper with a hole in it for a barbed fitting, TEE connector, shutoffs and vacuum gauge.

I use a cheap venturi air powered vacuum for A/C to 'suck-down' the cooling system to about 15 inches of Mercury.

All this can be bought for cheap at the hardware store or eBay/Amazon.
