Default Captain seats

Ok, I know they are super rare to find, and probably not cheap, but one day I will find them, and install them.
So yes, if anyone has a set, or knows of a complete set?
Just as these, Ivory with green piping.

No, they were a Jaguar option, available for their Daimlers (not sure for the Vanden Plas, never seen any of them fitted).

I have heard the original price to be 10.000 British Pounds, not sure that is true.

Always wondered what a set up like that would look like, never knew Jaguar had an option. NICE looking, good luck on your hunt for them

Well as it goes there’s a complete scar set on eBay UK right now, in Ivory.

Nice set indeed, but pick-up required ... just a tat too far

Where there's a will there's a way Eric. Especially when there is someone like myself who is involved with the Transport industry and international transportation.

Well, here we are, half year later .... Santa just passed by in his blue truck, dropping off a pallet full of presents.

The real story here is that I owe a very big thank you to our member Stu here!

He not only facilitated the purchase of a Daimler interior, but also carefully spent my money I sent him, borrowed a car, made a weekend 1000km trip to the south of the UK to pick everything up, re-upholstered the parcel shelf, and carefully packed everything for transport to the other side of the world.
Besides that, he did a thousand other things in the process to get everything running smooth.

Yes, it looks dirty, Stu actually wanted to clean it up, but I begged him to leave it, so as to prevent extra custom charges ... it worked ...

It is also not the correct color (oatmeal in stead of ivory), but as it is almost impossible to find these seats anyway, we decided to proceed.

I found a place here in Taiwan where they can make leather dye by the liter in any color (as long as you bring them a sample), and they can even put it in rattle cans, I will give that a try.

So, lots of work to do in the coming weeks, but extremely happy right now.

Will probably have the only Vanden Plas with Captains seats in the world ... prove me wrong .

Have fun cleaning, dying and putting it in the car. Although they look pretty good as house furniture too! LOL

Awesome!! Love seeing stuff like this.
You're in for a fun job... I did a full tan-to-black interior swap in my car years back. Make sure you've got a few spare of any plastic clips, and it's always handy to have some foam tape around too. Things have a way of working loose and causing rattles when they're removed/reinstalled

Yeah, very happy indeed, even the wife loves it ... that always helps .

Highhorse, if my memory still works, you got your seats re-dyed, right?
Do you remember how they protected the pipping?
I can think about using painters tape and mask them off, but maybe there is a more clever solution?

Yes I had mine dyed, but there was a big reddish stain by a PO (Icee from a kid probably) under the center armrest and some was on the piping. My upholsterer said its almost impossible to match the pipe, or mask it off, so I told him to dye it the same. Nobody I know knows the difference.

Someone always comes up with an ingenuitive solution. The tape idea is all I can come up with as well, but the piping is so tight, I don't think it will stay stuck. But they have new masking tapes out since I had mine done, like Green Frog.

Thanks Highhorse, that was not particular helpful then
~~u know I appreciate your reply~~.

I understand the mentioned problem though, it is indeed very tight.

But as you know, I can be a maniac sometimes..I already get nuts over the fact that the cup holder clip is one tint darker than the front one.

So I will need to find to retain the piping, maybe indeed just careful taping, or maybe taking the covers off.
Also read about a guy using drinking straws, can see how that maybe works on the straights, but probably not on the curves.
