Default CD Changer malfunction 1999 XJ8 VDP

G'Day Gents:
My Wife's CD changer stopped working.
The magazine will eject and when you reinsert it the changer tries to cycle through the discs but none of the discs will move from the magazine into the player.
I've checked that each of the discs moves freely in/out of the magazine.
I've tried "resetting" the changer by unplugging/replugging the powr.
No luck.
Any suggestions?
I've already replaced this unit once.
Thanks!
Tom

I found a used replacement for the boot unit on E-Bay for $100; it was an easy replacement did myself. It has worked perfectly for a couple of years now.

Some on this Forum have opened the unit and lubricated some of the moving parts to get it functioning again. But for $100 I didn't even try. I still have it. If I ever have another failure, I may open it up and, with two units, see if I can get one to work.
