Was your car an XK or XJ? This sucker requires the entire rack to be pulled out before you can access the little side screws. The hydraulic fluid reservoir sits on top of the rack which contains the disc player and amplifier. I may just leave the thing in there or sell the car 2000 XK8 white convrt with 53K miles.

XJ... since your post was in the X308 section I assumed yours was as well - I didn't initially notice you'd specifically indicated it was not.

I found removing the CD changer a lot easier than I thought. I was a little concerned about removing the actual CD changed guts out of the case there is 4 shock absorbers and 8 springs but they turned out to be easier than I thought the whole process took me less than an hour. I have never seen the way they mount the CD player in the XKs I thought they were the same as the XJ. I have to say my Stereo sounds amazing my old 98 Jag had the stock Jaguar set up and that sound good as well but with the VDP and the Alpine system with the sub woofer it sounds better. IMO changing from the stock stereos today on any car takes a lot because they all have the receivers mounted in the trunk and all that is in the dash is the controls. My friend had an aftermarket set up put in his car and it was a nightmare. They had the car three or four days half the interior out so they could run the wires ect. IMO it doesn't sound all that much better and it cost more than I would have spent. The newer cars are worse because most have built in screens and bluetooth all run thru the sound system.

I have a different problem with mine. As I travel down the road with a disk in my player every time I hit the slightest bump in the road my system stutters. Really aggravating. Any Ideas as to a fix.

Sounds like there is a problem with one or more of the rubber shock absorbers in the system or the screws that hold it to the bracket might be loose or gone. Jags ride great they take the bumps very well I live in Bosotn the king of the pot hole and hit some major ones that made my teeth hurt but my CD didn't skip. I doubt it's the car itself. I hate to say it but you'll have to pull the unit out and check it.

Default Fixed!

Before you try anything use a disc cleaner, that’s just one of those CDs that has the little bristles on it to clean the laser lens. My CDs started skipping a month ago and last week stop playing entirely, displaying the No Disc message. I planned to open it up and poke around, but thought to try a Disc Cleaner instead. Worked instantly! Must have had some debris in there. Good luck!
