Default Changing T-Stat housing (any suggestions)

I am going to change my cracked thermostat housing and have not been able to locate anything in the JTIS for this or torque specs or sequence for the intake manifold. Anyone have a suggestion?

Yes, we have an all aluminum housing for $85.

And... I seriously recommend you get or make a crowsfoot wrench for the riser and change it without removing the manifold. I bought a couple of $3.00 wrenches, then used my torch to heat the neck while the working end of the wrench was in a vise, then beat it over. Then I ground the wrench thinner using an angle grinder, and removed some material from the sides of the "open end". A crowsfoot wrench is about $12.00. It takes about an hour via this method, including walking around, beer drinking or whatever to keep from getting ticked off, which is about an hour quicker than manifold R/R.
Good Luck and report how you came out!

The torque specs for the 10 intake manifold bolts is 20-22 Nm. Start with inner runners and work out in a criss cross pattern.

Oh yea, I remember that I "crowsfooted" the box end on one of the wrenches, then used a pair of vise grips on the vertical part to break the bolts free and to tighten the last 1/2 turn. Good Luck and report back your results!

just to pass on info to those doing this. if your replacing the housing, break off the old 1 leaving the bolted down base. then you can get the bolts out easily. replace these longer rear ones with shorter ones or even internal torx bolts and put the bolts in the rear t stat holes before setting in polace and you wont have to unbolt the intake(which is really only a 2 min deal anyway since you leave the lower pivot bolts in place to pivot the intake up and back after removing the injectors connectors and air intake tube)

It was recommended to me to use two shorter bolts from the thermostat cover in the back two positions of the new housing, making it easier to install. I did this, and it worked famously.

Brutal:
So the shop charge for manifold R/R is 2 minutes?
I like your suggestion about breaking the old one and replacing with torx or socket heads.
