Default Chrome Trim.

My chrome trim everywhere had scratches, kind of like swirls. And has lots of watermarks. Anyway to remove them and bring it back to a factory shine? This stuff is all surface you can't feel it.

It is all plastic, apart from that around the windows if fitted, so no real chance of polishing it out...

I'm talking bout the ones fitted around the windows. Can't use metal polish?

I don't really see what he is doing, it seems to me more patching up dull chrome than removing swirls & scratches.

I have the exact same problem as the OP (probably from a bad treatment by the previous owner), and would love to know a solution.
However, from all my research, I only found there is non .

Yeah, that's the general way, thanks.

However, the OP and me have the problem that the chrome is swirled (like they used scotch brite on it), and the chrome layer is sooo much harder than paint or clear coat, that nothing fine enough seems to work to polish it out.

I have read a trillion forums on this matter, but till now not found a single solution which proved to work, sadly.

Apparently your not reading in the right places.
Drip rail and window trim on these cars is stainless. NOT chrome.
They need to be machine polished.
Pic here I scuffed the trim with 220 grit paper then buffed them out first with the coarse compound on a hard wheel followed by the brightening compound on the soft wheel.

Feel like new trim is an option. An option but an expensive one...

OK, my mistake, too much in a hurry.
That is very good news as it is about the only thing really bothering me every time I come up to my car.
Muchos Gracias Senior!

You could try this route, but spinning with a hand drill may not be enough rpm but worth a shot.

Even just look in McMaster Carr.
Polishing wheels and different compounds are there with explanation of the best uses.
