remove the wood trim .. comes out towards you .. just pry with something plastic under the wood. after wood out remove 4 screws then the vent comes out and it's behind it.. simple to do. becareful with the wood and your dash.
Do we just use a small flat head screw driver? I also have climate control display bulbs out and j-shifter lights out as well. Do they use the same bulbs?

use plastic to pry.. if climate control bulbs are out they are different. you will have to remove shifter surround then wood slope .. then radio must come out . havent seen a shifter one out.. but i assume it's similar to the climate control
Dealer will be able to supply all of them. The shifter bulbs are the same as door switches. I forget the part number. I wanted to change my colour but am having difficulty now sourcing the bulbs.

Maybethe clock isa little different on the 01 XJR but on mine after taking the wood panel off and the 4 screws (incredibly easy), the clock/vent assy would only move about an inch or so and wouldnt come out. It looks wider and the other wood panels may need to come out. After fighting with it for about 10minutes, Igave up and decided to save this project for another day. Howeverafter putting it back together the clock light now works!
I have at least 2 other dash lights out in the speedometer and temperature lcd panel area. Looks like from the other postings on here those are real fun to get to. The different color lightbulb idea was interesting, I'd love to see some pictures on that. Then, its the dreaded drooping rear headliner issue. So I'll be doing some weekends in the garage.
Anyay, just wanted to say hi and thank everyones input on here. This is such a great board and the members are so helpful. I've restored cars before but this Jaguar is new for me and will definately look here for help.
Thanks again
