Default Cold start noise

I recently purchased a 01 XJR about 2 months ago and no real problems but have noticed in the past week its taking a lil bit longer to start from a cold start. Just a few days ago i heard what sounded like a relay jumping back and forth or what sounds like a solenoid vibration with the key in the on position. Until this morning it started with some delay but also rev'ed up to 1500 and then to 2500rpm with a hesitation. Once the car is warmed up it doesnt repeat throughout the day at all. Im pretty mechanically handy but wanted to see if this was a common issue before digging into the car. Its probably best to do a tune up on the car and i will need to do the trans filter/fluid change in the near future. Any help would be appreciated.

how old is the battery, and do you get any trac unavailable/asc/ warnings when you start the car?

For a short period the fueling is rich (cold start) to get the engine up to temp, so the idle is usually in the teens, then it drops down to the 600-750 normally - but 2500 rpm is high....It could be a sticky throttle, maybe play in the cable and the throttle seems to be trying to adjust (the clicking noise?)

I've not heard of this one before so it's likely not that common. Hopefully someone else can chime in with a solve.

No warning messages or lights what so ever. I have read that if the baatery is low or going that the ASC/Trac Un will show but thats not whats happening even though the battery is 5/07 DOB. As for the RPMs...it went to the normal warm up but then started to raise higher but had some stumbling and shaking for about 10-15 seconds then smoothed out. The noise seems to come from drivers side underneath. I will try and pin point the location of the noise tomorrow.
