Default Confused about which model i own

So basically I just bought a 1999 jaguar xj8 4.0l sovereign. The listing said it was a 98 model x300 which is confusing because apparently there are NO sovereign x300 because the x300 was between 94 - 97.
so what do I have? The build date behind bettery says 99 but there is a badge next to the engine stating x300 when its surely an x308.
Im either misinformed and x300 models did go until 1999 OR they've replaced the badge next to the engine with the wrong one at some point and it really is a x308. Any info would be great

Then you have an X308: back in the bad days, Jaguar tended to re-use lots of stuff until inventory was gone: apparently in build year 1997 this included tags from X300s which wound up on the later model. We see this often on this forum and on Facebook.

But once it was even worse: I had a friend who ordered a Jag in the 80s, by the time it arrived at his nearest dealer to Norman OK, USA, the front seats and rear seats were a different color ("bolshie labor" was the tendered excuse!); too six months do get it fixed.

It would be useful if you filled in your info: where do you live?

It's an x308 at '99. But I believe some type approval stuff carried over from the x300 hence the stickers.

Seller or the previous owner may not be all familiar with his own car and spec...it is not uncommon
