Coolant full but light is on

Hi Guys, dumb question probably, but here goes: the engine coolant low indicator came on in my 98 XJ8. Checked the coolant and it is all the way full to the cap of the reservoir. What else could eb causing this? Loose wire?

Coolant level sensor is bad. Have also seen the light come on because of the expansion tank being bad. I would start with sensor, if light stays on take it back and exchange for tank. Level sensor is on bottom of tank and new tank will come with sensor in it.

I have a 2003 S-Type and my low coolant light is onbut the reservoir is full. I took it in to a local garage to renew my state inspection and they saw a leak but do not know the source of the leak without an more extensive check over. He thinks it could be a serious problem if the coolant is not getting to the engine. Do you agree? I may be trading my S-type in for a newer model in a few months. Should I be concerned about this "leak" or have it looked at?
