Default crankcase vent filter

Regarding the full load breather hose on a 2000 Xjr, would a clamp-on crankcase vent filter like a K & N be a suitable replacement for the hose?

I am wanting to eliminate the full load hose, or maybe install a catch can inline if the proposed crankcase vent filter would not work.

I've been thinking about this mod too.

I am glad to not be the only one. I would like to eliminate the mess that reoccurs inside the airtube. It's not a lot of oil, but enough to want a different arrangement, if possible.

I just rebuilt my top end both heads off, and the EGR was coked up with junk, see photo's in my thread Restore oil treatment blows head gasket.
It was horrible, and the coke could be sucked into the engine.
