can i completely cut out the rear deck metal? Is this structural for my car? Im wanting to remove all the metal from the rear seat deck above the fuel tank. Thoughts?

 

Anything you cut out can be replaced of course but if you are looking for a shortcut to replacing the fuel pump, don't. You'll have little room to work beneath the rear glass, likely have fuel spilled inside the car and will in the end have a cobbled up rear deck.
It's a bitch job but I don't see cutting a hole in the rear deck as a better solution.
I've done the job correctly, it's a PITA but not the worst job I've ever done.
Is the rear deck a structural member? I'm not qualified to say but it does isolate the fuel tank from the passenger compartment.

 

I don't think it's structurally critical as there's a socking great hole already cut in it from the factory for the subwoofer on Premium audio systems-on the Standard audio systems the big hole is simply covered by a thick piece of mat glued in place over it, which is hardly strong from a structural point of view...

 

Im entering the 1st jaguar 308 into a sound contestant! 10,000 watts, stock radio, just wanted to remove the deck and re cover it so it looks stock ; )

I don't think there is any structural use for it. My concern would be the moon roof leaking and lowering your DBs. Good luck
