Hello everyone,

This is my first post, as of one month ago I acquired a 1999 XJR from its first & only owner, and I want to thank everyone here for the excellent information posted that has helped me thus far.

My temp display light is out, and it appears straightforward enough to replace it from this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=3803

Since I'm prying up the shifter, and getting new dash lights, I have a couple questions. First, does the white "J" line in the shifter have an under side light? It's odd that I can see the "D", "R", "1" light up in red as I move the shifter into gear, but no illumination to show me the pathway.

When I press on the climate control buttons, the entire plastic piece shifts inward slightly. Can this be fixed while I'm up there?

Also, the driver's side window buttons and seat memory have illumination, but not the passenger side. Is this normal?

Are there any other dash lights that typically go out that I might not be aware of?

Lastly, what's the current consensus -- standard lights, or go LED?
