Default A Day in the Midlands

I have a free day later this month in London and am considering going up to the British Motoring Museum and the Coventry Transport Museum to see the Jag displays. Anyone been? Any advice? Done in a day?

All suggestions welcome.

Thank you.

Len

I've been to Gaydon (BMM) and it's great if you want a look at the vast array on offer but I'm yet to get over to the CTM which I understand is brilliant.

Len will you be using public transport like trains or a hire car?
I would say both are easily doable in a day but set off early and don't stare too long at the Heritage Trust cars!

Thank you for the reply. Yes, train would be the ideal. I gather the Coventry museum is a short walk from the local rail station. Not sure how to get from there over to the BMM and back. Yes, early start would be the plan.

Any other suggestions?

Possibly, a taxi would be expensive but a local private hire company you give you a reasonable enough quote from the station and back?

Default Went to Coventry

I did take the trip and highly recommend Coventry as an easy "day out." The trains from Euston station London were easily available and tickets are online. After a 90-minute ride, the museum is a brief walk through the enter of the town to the Coventry Transport Museum. It is a well-laid out museum, chock full of marques made there and a great deal of honesty toward the end about the demise of many British brands. The Jaguar Heritage Trust display is on the second floor and has about 10 cars and memorabilia.

Options for getting over to the BMM in Gaydon are limited. Private car or taxi are probably the only bets. The Coventry Museum told me that about half the Jag trust's vehicles are on display in Coventry and half in Gaydon. I am glad I didnt attempt to do both. Coventry has several hours to take in the entire museum. Gaydon for another drip.
