desperately frustrated - please advise
98 XJR - the car says "ENGINE COOLANT LOW" - and it wasn't, so I replaced the coolant level sensor + expansion tank. It would say it again as soon as the coolant got below 1 inch from the top of the expansion tank.
Now, it says it's low even though the coolant is up to the very top of the expansion tank. I tried resetting the battery/cpu -- still says it. I even unplugged the coolant level sensor and it still says it. It comes on the second I start the car, and stars me in the face until I shut the car off.
Why in the hell would it tell me the coolant is low even when the sensor is unplugged? Is there another sensor I'm not aware of? please help. It takes the joy out of driving the car when there's a big red meaningless warning yelling out at you constantly.
