Default Differences between OEM catalytic converters

Hello,

See this comparison:

Is it possible to have 2 different (OEM) catalytic converters on each side?

The reason is that I have another thread running regarding engine pinging and codes for both catalytic converters.
Recently I replaced one (bank 1, the easy one and this partly solved the problem).

The catalytic converters I have come from a donor engine.
Now I find out that they are two different catalytic converters.. mainly due to the location of the O2 sensors and the general size of the housing.
The flange and output are the same and the mounting plate for the bell housing is also the same.

Currently the 'type of catalytic converter' on the right side of the comparison photo above is on both sides of my car (with the second O2 sensor in the middle of the unit).

Thank you.

The photo on the left looks like an older cat. Regardless, you might have an engine light come on for a catalyst efficiency code. Let’s hope not but it’s possible. You might also need a longer 02 sensor for the bottom hole.

Addicted, he's in the Netherlands, he may have the Propane conversion CAT's. I remember seeing those a couple years ago from someone else in Europe.

Those are both factory cats, just different years.

Thank you Addicted2boost.

Good call on the cable lengths, I will have a try tomorrow.

Well the old catalytic converter is out (with the middle O2 sensor).

The catalytic converter looks neat from the inside from the exhaust manifold flange, but when I look in the hole where the
middle O2 sensor was, you could see that there was a slight blockage. Not much, but there. It was also very white unlike
the first part of the catalytic converter.

I also forgot what a job it is to get that specific catalytic converter out (under the coolant reservoir). Could they have made
more tubes and hoses over that heat shield?

Just ordered a new O2 sensor because my current one was defective since last sunday and 'while your at it' they say... .

I believe the length of the cable will work for the second O2 sensor. Thanks for the info guys.
