Default differential spline count and ring gear diameter

2001 x308

Can anyone confirm, deny or correct the following?

-- ring gear diameter = 8.0 inches

-- ring gear bolt count = 10

-- ring gear bolt circle = ??

-- output shaft spline count = 28

-- output shaft diameter = ??

A search on "splines" yields 34 results, none of which appear directly applicable.

Here is the reason behind the questions:

Lincoln LS Limited Slip Differential bolt-in... - Lincoln Forums

Then it was time for the 8.0" LS diff teardown. Did that and took a few more detailed measurements. So far everything was a perfect match. Then I decided I had better unbolt the 8.0" ring gear and see how it measured up to the 8.8" ring gear bolt pattern. Same, 10 bolt pattern same OC measurement. I finished bolting the 8.0" LS ring gear onto the 8.8" differential and then bolted it all back into the LS carrier. Long story short... It was a dead match in every way.
Brand new LSD units are not expensive direct from Ford Motorsports. Sub $400.00

I'll see if I can find it somewhere as I have made some measurements a while back, but I wouldln't trust these as exact ones to have something made up, only as an idea.

Best would probably be like Brutal is saying, getting a 2nd hand diff cheap and find an expert who can check/build your LSD.

Thanks! It's only for sanity checking.

Now that you mention it, what LSD units *will* fit into a X308 carrier and allow the use of the existing ring and pinion set to avoid TCM programming? XJ40 and up?

Here is what I found, but again only use this as indication, it was not meant as exact figures!

D2 was about 125mm, D4 = 34,5mm and D1 = 154mm.
Iirc the spline count is 49-16 (=3.06).

I use now a Quaife LSD (so stock housing/gears), and before a custom made clutch type (als stok housing and gears).

There are some that have used x300 and older LSD units, but I have no experience with them.

Thank you very much for your followup.

What you refer to as spline count above is probably the gear ratio. The ratio of the number of teeth on the crown wheel to the number of teeth in the pinion gear.

The spline count should be the number of grooves in the bore at D4 where the stub axles enter.

What is the diameter of the crown wheel itself?
