Question diy tune up?

im wanting to give my 98 VDP a tuneup. but one question. where are the spark plugs? and how hard are they to swap. if their is a link that can help me id appreciate it. I'm a pretty hands on guy but i just need a good tip to get started i don't want to start unbolting where i assume they could be. thanks -josh-

Josh,

These pics are a 2001 XK8 but it's the same procedure. You can get directly to the coil cover on the LH side but will need to remove the Air Filter trunk on the RH side:

With this out of the way, remove the 8 bolts securing the coil cover:

Each plug has an overhead coil secured with two bolts. The coil harness connectors can be released with a small screwdriver to press down the locking latch.

There's a paper gasket under each coil. These generally need replacement. The cost from Jaguar is 'interesting'! I make my own from a sheet of gasket paper.

If you find any oil in the plug holes, it's a sign the camshaft O Ring seals have failed.

thanks so much for the quick replay. i can't wait to do this, i haven't had new plugs installed in over a 100,000 miles, I'm also changing the oil, cooling system, radiator flush, and the air filters. im detailing the out side and taking out the seats and shampooing the carpet, leather conditioning the seats. I'm about to be a weekend warrior! but any thing for my baby

For reconditioning/feeding the leather, I've never found anything that compares to this Cadillac Boot and Shoe Care. See photo

It is only about $10/bottle. Simply amazing stuff.

Love that Cabernet red paint.

A 'weekend warrior'. With that 'to do' list, sleep won't be coming into the equation.

I used to use maguires too, but it doesn't come even close to the cadillac stuff, really.
