Do cats have to come out before pulling engine?
Removing engine out the top, not by dropping suspension. Manual directions says remove catalytic converters before pulling engine. It looks to me like cats will clear. Anyone pull without removing cats?

Don't know, I drop the engine out the bottom WITH the gearbox complete and leave them in place.
The lower steering column needs to be moved HARD into the body to clear on the X308 sedan but needs to be removed from the X100.
Never tried 'out the top'?

it's like a total of 5 bolts i just got them out of there. on an xjr you still have the intercooler radiator in the way so you can't just swing it forward forever maybe you can on an xj8
if going from the bottom you should take the springs out, with a weak upper ball joint you can really hurt yourself
