Default Do The Lights Need To Come Off?

The plastic piece behind the bumper needs to be removed to gain access to a couple of hoses. It seems that the lights may have to be removed first? Is this correct? Seems like the piece should come off with the lights in, but when I try to lift out, the lights move.

Looking more closely, I think the driver's side hose is doable with the miracle remote removal tool. &, I hope, the right one is accessable by just removing the bumper cover? Am I headed in the right direction? BILL - Don't answer that

Thanks and best,

Steve S.

Give the 350 forum a try; they may be more helpful for your car. X308 is for 98 - 03 (US market) XJ8s.

OK, further to my previous post in this thread here's what the puddle lights I purchased look like.

Removing the original lights really couldn't be any more simple, just use a suitable (no sharp edges) tool to prise them out of the door card.

Fitting the new ones was almost as easy. The harness connector fitted without any problem although the socket was orientated in a different position there was plenty of room so it wasn't a problem. The clipping feature on the new light was tight to fit, I had to help it locate by using a tool to squeeze in the clipping feature on the light as it clipped into place,

I found the lights on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296994461717

I'm pleased with them, if you want a light with this feature I'd recommend them!

Here's some pictures which are self explanatory but bear in mind that the image is a little distorted as it's shining on block paving.
