Is it necessary to remove the entire interior door panel to "get at" the bolt that secures the mirror to the door ? or is it possible to remove just the interior triangular plastic trim piece Without breaking it) that covers the mirror securing bolt?

I removed my door panel, but if I remember correctly, I discovered that it was unnecessary.
Then again, given my current rash of "senior moments", that if could be a biggie!
