Every other door locks except my drivers side , Alarm works fine , when I push down on the lock knob it just doesn’t want to go down! But at the same time sometimes it does work ?? Any ideas why this is happening??? It’s a 1999 xj8 btw

 

Could be a broken clip, ...can you hear it activate when you lock/unlock it? You'll probably have to pull the door card to inspect it. It you don't see anything wrong, try disconnecting the door control module (lower center behind card) for about a minute or two and reconnect and try it again.
