Default Drivers door won't open

Hi all, just replaced a broken drivers door outside handle, reassembled everything, closed the door, and now it won't open at all with either handle. What gives? I did manage to pull the door card off from the inside to get some access. Not sure what to do next to get the door unlatched. Ideas? It's a 03 XJR.

Thanks!

Verify your linkage assembly is connected properly since you say neither handle works to activate the latch. Something simple like the neoprene clasp may have come back off.
Here's a removal/installation illustration from the X308 Workshop Manual for you to review...

I followed that to the letter. I have since disconnected the outside handle and the door still won't open.

Thanks again,
Kevin

Are the handles easily moving without resistance or is there tension as if they are attempting to pull the latch mechanism?

Tension. It's like the latch is jammed

Get someone to push on the outside by the latch while you try to get the latch to release with a handle or vise versa.

No go. Door won’t budge. I assume I’ll need to try to dismantle the latch assembly from inside the car.

That's what its sounding like.

Take a look at this, skip to about 6:20 and you'll see where he has to use a screwdrive to dislodge the lock actuator. Just to see if this is your issue.

Other than that, you need to get ahold of the mechanism for the latch release and fart around with it until you win the game. I suggest spraying the latch lightly with some dry silicone lube, it may help it release.
