Default Dumb question...front footwell lights?

I noticed, at night, when the door opens, the overhead lights go on fine, open the door and the puddle lights shine...but nothing in the front footwells? I have to think there are supposed to be lights down there...assumed the position, but didn't see anything (with a flashlight/torch in hand).

I know it's a dumb question (actually two..) but, 1) assumption that there are footwell lights, right? and 2) where are they/what bulb type.

Sorry to ask such a simple question...but guidance would be appreciated (if even told to bug off...)

IIRC, there are not any foot well lights in the 308's installed as original equipment, though some folks have added them.

I know I don't have any in my 01 XJR.

The lack of back-lighting on the function buttons on the steering wheel is strange too.

I like what Arden does with ribbon LED's in the pic below, though I think the speaker lights are a bit too much.

I think I will go this route. The ribbon lights are cheap enough on the 'bay to give it a try.

That is a strange lack in a car of this type...heck, even my old MGB (may she rest in rusty pieces....) had floor lights. Oh well. Like the idea of led strips, maybe along the lower edge of the dash. Or, maybe, just a couple of footwell light assemblies from Vickie Brit or Moss off the other usual suspect British cars.

Thanks!

There's nothing like stumbling onto a 6 year old thread on a Sunday morning, is there?

I was also surprised that there were no lights in the footwells. I'm not interested in "pimping out" my car with disco lights or anything like that. It's simply a matter of convenience a for when I drop something (perhaps a cell phone) at night.

If anyone has already figured out the best way to tap into the interior light circuit, and what lights to use, etc., on an X308, please point me in the right direction.

Jon

One neat option are the Triumph Stag / TR6 footwell lamps. These originally had a chrome trim/surround on top but it is now NLA.

Indeed a kind of shame that Jaguar never fitted those, not even in the upper class versions.
I fitted them myselve several years ago.
Some multi purpose ones in the front, out of sight and fixed to the upper framing, and the Jaguar trunk ones in the rear kick boards.
Spliced them in the front and rear interior lighting respectively.
