Default Electrics when changing XJ8 front seat ?

HI

The drivers seat frame on my 1998 XJ8 snapped and was welded rendering the lift mechanism useless so I have purchased a compete second hand replacement set with its electrics all fitted.
However I am told I need to replace some of the electrics on the new seat with those from from the original seat?
I assume this is to do with the cars ECU recognition. Can anyone tell me which electrical parts I need to switch over from the original seat to the replacement one please?

Thanks

Greg

As far as I know that depends, if the seat is the same spec as your old one or not. The motor or motor sensor combo is different depending if you've got the memory seat option or not.

When I replaced a seat frame I swapped everything but that was because my car has memory seats & the donor didn't, plus I've got sport seats & the donor was a comfort seat so the foam was wrong too. It's the same frame in every x308 seat though, so you can make it work if you swap enough.

The seat control module and the relevant relays that are connected to the base, remove the one from the replacement and fit yours, this retains all functions with the cars canbus.
Leather, is it the same colour?

You still need to swap the motors to retain the memory function if the donor seat isn't equipped with that, as the position sensors are on the drive shaft that comes out of the motor & aren't there at all on non-memory seats.

Thanks Guys for your help. It raises another question if I can. My original seat does not have the memory function but the replacement one does - which poses the question - can I use the replacement seat to upgrade to memory? (My X300 V12 had memory so it would be nice to have it in my 308)

It would need the door seat control panel changing as well but have no idea if the looms in the door carries all the wiring or not and maybe there's other parts required as well ?

also - if I just leave the memory control in the replacement seat can I just ignore the memory function if I don't upgrade other parts?? (Trying to learn as much as I can about the loom approach by Jaguar on these 308 models) I believe the replacement came out of an XJR
Tks
Greg

From what I've seen on here before, I think Jag only used one loom as everyone who's added anything has always said the wiring was there.
