Drove my car today on the motorway at 70mph. The engine was at about 2100-2200 RPM. Does that sound right for 5th gear?...it's so smooth I really don't know if it's going into 5th gear in auto mode....

I was looking online for a table or something that I could reference, anyone know where I can look? did internet searches, didn't come up with anything.

Sounds about right. the simple way to check if it's going into 5th is to just slide the gear lever to the left which will drop it down to fourth, so if the revs go up, you were in fifth.

 

c 2.1k revs at 70mph is correct - mine is the same at this speed at which all I can hear is the wind and road noise.....

 

I agree with nigelmay and kyle04, Just drove my XJ8 on the motorway (freeway) this morning and the revs were at 2100, I also moved the gear selector to the left (into 4th) and the revs did go up.
