I came across this Technical Bullentin and thougt of this thread..

Why not check the simple things first? The text mentioned that if not doing this, driveability issues could occur. /E

The cruise control on AJ16's (97-99) was vacuum operated, but the later AJ27's (00-03) are electronically controlled.

Omgimali's car is an 01, so it won't be that. Although a vacuum leak somewhere could still be confusing the ECU

I presume by now you've read the codes. What are they?

It is quite likely that a leak there somewhere or if the valves are not woking properly, migth cause the rpm to become nervous..
Make sure the black, plastic spagetti sized pipes are fitted properly everywhere, but be careful not to crack them.. they have after 20 years of a life next to a hot Engine become brittle.

Does this problem occur with the cruisecontrol engaged?

There is no fault codes. I have yet to read the LTFT. I'll get to that tonight hopefully.

I cannot find the LTFT on torque. I have these readings.
STFT - -1.6
MAF - 4.4
