This forum has already educated so much on basic work my car needs and how easy it can be to do it myself. So far the front shock bushing diy has been the most valuable. This post it a big thank you to all who post on here.

I guess that was vague. I bought my 2001 xj8 just over 5 years ago. It was still a big purchase for me. I was a hotel clerk when I bought it. I have loved owning and driving. Only major repair has been a used transmission so far.

Once you get used to no car payments, never go back. It's re-dickulous to pay every month for a car. Keep the Jag and keep it up. Mine is 14 years old now, and I got a compliment on it today. Maintenance is the key. Everything needs maintenance.

It's hard for many to make the switch in mindset, but getting from making payments on stuff(in general not just cars) to saving a lot makes life simpler and over a lifetime much healthier financially. I'm not speaking to the OPs behavior our anything, this is an in general set of comments.

I'm younger than most of the people on my team at work by about 25-30 years but not far off in income. All make excellent money and have for a long time. It's amazing the habits of those who can retire when they want, and those who can't. It's often more important your habits than your income that gets you financially free.

The funniest thing is that most people with a middle school education can do the math needed to do well financially in most financial situations (even very lie income), but often times it's habits that prevent them from getting ahead.

So to end my rant, OP, good on you! Keep your car rolling and the money going into the bank!
