Default First XJR Test Drive

Having never driven an XJR, I test drove a 2000 model with about 120K miles on it at the weekend. Holy cow are those things fast!!!. I have serious "want-XJR-itis" now.

Yes I test drove 2 last weekend. The first was a 98. Tires were old, no heat, failed clear coat on hood, roof, and trunk lid, air bag light on, knackered interior, but it didn't half go. Too much of a project for me.

The second was a 2002 with 130K but full dealer history every 5K back to new, beautiful condition inside and out, complete with every manual including the CD, window sticker, etc. Most original car I've seen. They dropped the price $1K so I couldn't say no.

Tried to time the 0-60 yesterday, was 6s up a moderate incline but that was with the traction control light flashing from 0 to 40 mph! Definitely not slow.

Yeah, the one I drove was a bit tired too, and the owner knew very little about it's history. Even if I was thinking of buying one, I would have passed on this particular specimen.

Well worth getting a Carfax account, if you ask me. It told me about a mileage discrepancy on the first, and had the entire service history on the second. Worth the $50 a few times over.

The difference in the price of the cars was $4k vs. $6k. This is definitely a situation where you should buy the best you can. Well I say that, I could have waited for that low mileage example, but the 02 was in such nice shape I was surprised.
