FOB will not lock/unlock doors
To start with, the battery in the FOB is good as is the car battery. A while back I had a problem were water got into the trunk and damaged the Security Locking Module. Cleaned all up, replaced the module with a known working one, (correct one for car) but still nothing. Checked all fuses and relays, all are good, and car starts and runs fine. Only other thing not working isthe gas door, which I have to release from the inside, it locks but not unlock. usually I have not much trouble figureing things out, but this one has got me stump. Any suggestions.
On subject, but not the main subject. Here's a link to a fuel filler solenoid, Dave comes up with lots of stuff, good source to bookmark... https://shop.everydayxj.com/XJ6_XJ8_...-hna3093ab.htm
To the main subject, did you reprogram it to this module (see below)? ..Do the controls work from the armrest? ..Do the locks engage/disengage when you put it in/take it out of gear? ..Does the full down work when you put the key in the door lock and hold it to the right and visa versa?
I'm just trying to check function is all to be sure its just the remote module.
For programming, this was provided by Graham in an older thread....
Method 1
1: Pull and hold headlight flasher toward you.
2: Insert key in the ignition and turn to position 1...allows headlight to operate
3: Release and flash the headlight 4 additional times. (In some cases, only three times will be necessary.) Alarm will enter the programming mode indicated by a chime and/or a flash from the led light by the gearshift.
4: Program the transmitter by pressing the unlock or lock button. The horn should beep and/or the led light up. You need to press the remote so that the horn/light operates 5 times. Then turn the key off and remove from ignition and try the remote.
Note: If you have other remotes to programme, you would need to press the other remote buttons at least once .
Method 2
1. Hold the headlamp stalk in and then place the key in ignition, turn to position 1 then after 2 seconds pull the headlamp flasher 4 to 5 times.
2. A red LED will light briefly on the Gearshift plate to the left of the "P" park position.
3. Touch the lock or unlock button on the remote once and you will see the same LED on the shift plate light up again, a simple on-off.
4. Turn key off and remove from ignition before pushing “Lock” again. When you push “Lock” again the remote should be programmed.

Thanks for the reply Highhorse
On this part that you asked "To the main subject, did you reprogram it to this module (see below)? ..Do the controls work from the armrest? ..Do the locks engage/disengage when you put it in/take it out of gear? ..Does the full down work when you put the key in the door lock and hold it to the right and visa versa?

I did try the other methods of reprograming, but nothing on that. I plan on checking my connections again, and give them another cleaning, and check to see if I may have accidently disconnected something when I pulled out the trunk lining to see if I can find were the possible leak is. I do have another transponder module coming in with the correct VCATS, but I doubt that is it but never know, seen stranger things
