Front ARB markings/colours!?
Hey guys,
Anti Roll Bar question here...
Right, I have three ARBs sitting here. After cleaning the middle section up, I have found some markings:
1st Bar: 1 yellow marking in the middle
2nd Bar: 2 yellow markings left and right
3rd Bar: 1 blue marking
The 2 yellow markings are from my XJ8 Executive. The yellow single marking is supposed to be from an XJ Sport. The single blue marking from an XJR.
As all 3 are the same diameter, I can't determine which one is properly 'stiff'. I would somewhat how like to be able to be able to know which one to start with. Not that I have been sold an even softer ARB and fit that... Grrr...
It is now all very weird and not that easy to decide... Can someone clear this up? Or know that their XJR or XJ Sport has a certain colour marking?
cheers
Damien

Mine has a red band marking (2001 XJ8 VDP), clearly visible when you look down between the timing case and radiator fans.
I'm assuming the VDP has the softest sway bar?
According to the parts catalogue, there are 3 types:
MNC2100AE Comfort (Red in the middle, pic at Barratt)
MNC2100CF Sports (colour?)
MNC2100DE Supercharged (colour?)
There was also MNC2100CE but not listed in the parts catalogue, no info. My car is supercharged but has ARB with a red band in the middle - comfort, as it is a Daimler Super V8.
Perhaps Barratt can provide info on the markings of the "sports" and "supercharged" as they sell these also but do not show pictures.

So, it seems then that the Sport has one stripe, the Executive two (though the roll bar has been replaced with the Sport version) stripes but was reduced to one.
Comfort suspension has a red stripe.
XJRs have a blue stripe.
So, that means my XJ8 Executive had the sports suspenion with a stiffer front ARB. But it isn't stiff enough. Means I'll ditch both yellow marked roll bars and fit the XJR blue marked one.
Luckily the single making yellow ARB was for free...
Thanks again!

In my head, the Vanden Plas, Daimler and Souvereign models would have the red marked ARB. The base XJ8 as well as XJ8 SE would also be in those lines.
XJ Sport and XJ8 Executive would both have the yellow marked ARB as well as have a rear ARB (mine has it).
The XJR would be the only one with a blue striped ARB but also with a rear one...
