Front Brake Pad replacement

Front Brake Pad replacement
Guys - I just started to get the dreaded squeal from the front brakes so I need to change them. What tool do I need to take the caliper off? I bought Akebono full ceramic pads for $90 - they get good reviews so I hope they work out.

Oh - I have been getting a few rough gear changes and have noticed sometimes that if I floor it the car revs to the limit and hesitates before it changes gear - should I be worried? I have not had the transmission fluid changed as I heard that it didn't need it - I smell cows here! Is there anyway that the tranny can be checked??
Cheers

You don't need any special tools. The guide pins holding the calipers to the caliper brackets require a allen head socket to remove. I believe it's 7mm. It's a straight forward job. Make sure you use brake grease to the backing plates and guidepins to prevent future brake squeal. Good idea to flush the brake system while your bleeding the brakes anyway.
