Default Front brake pad warning

Hi All
I am just wondering on my 2003 vanden plas is there is a warning light or similar code or dash light that activates when the front brake pads need replacing?
On some GM vehicles there is a light will illuminate when the pads are worn.
I know the pads are almost done for on my Jag at this time.
The Jag is in limp mode and just wondering if the worn pads could be contributing to the limp mode engagement?
Cheers
RAM

You need to read the OBD codes to determine why you are in Restricted Performance Mode. It is highly doubtful the brake pads would create Restricted Performance. The Restricted Performance is to protect the engine/transmission.
With the codes we can help figure out the Restricted Performance.

There is no brake pad sensor that I am aware of. And certainly no reason it would go restricted performance on bad pads (trust me, my right front was in PIECES when I changed it a couple weeks ago, and it ran fine - stopping was another matter though).

+1 Charleso, I don't remember ever seeing any brake pad sensors by that calipers, so without that the car has no idea the state of the pads (until they totally fail and you drive into something and set off the airbags, lol)

Fwiw, on my last car I intentionally disabled (shorted) the sensors because it was just another expense wear item. They sensors trigger when the pad is really totally dead at around 2mm material remaining and you can already feel them fading anyway - don't need the dash light to tell me.
