Ok, so I know the is a revisit. I'm attempting to press out the lower front Ball joints on a ( on Car)1998 Jaguar xj8. uppers are done no Issues. Do those BJ's push out downward ( toward rubber BJ Dust Boot) or upward? can't tell, sorry if your thinking I shouldn't even own a Jaguar. I Looked for a video. Bearing are also getting changed out so nothing in the way. And yes, I did download shop manual. When I hit the lottery, I will pay the $185.00-220.00 per hour at the local Jag dealership. My XJ8 is like a bad girl friend, always hitting me up for money. Thanks, Vinman

 

Do you already have a new ball joint (MNC1350AA)? Note the position of the "hat" on the picture. It tells you which way to press out.

 

Yes I have the press, by hat, do you mean Dust cover side? The threads are pointing down in control arm.

I want to thank everyone for their help with this lower ball joint job. your reply's were very helpful. could not have done it with you. I got the BJ lower left side " what a pain" my wife thinks my affair with this car is crazy and I should seek counseling. Anyways thanks everyone.
