Default Fuel Consumption 3.2L X308

I've found that I'm getting really poor range on a full tank these days; about 330km before the warning light comes on. It's not easy finding benzine fuel here, it's mostly 'gasohol', but even so, I should be getting much better mileage even with my slightly heavy right foot.

The previous owner fitted an external fuel pump, which is a little noisy but there are no signs of leaks or fuel smells that I've noticed.

The car seems to run well enough, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

What is the percentage of alcohol in the fuel? While alcohol s a cleaner fuel, it contains less energy per kilogram and you end up using more fuel to achieve the same performance.

Thats just about identical to what I get in my XJR around town. With 370hp and 387ft/lbs, I dont complain, and at this point Im likely putting out more than that. I dont know much about the 3.2, but its possible because it has to work/rev harder, it may not be much better. They are afterall 4000lb cars

I'm getting around 10l/100km in my 3.2l V8. I drive with loads of CC and am very steady driving it.

That should be something like 25 mpg (imp) or so... Daily driver...

After filling up I have a range of about 450 km. After driving it ups to 600 km and more... I've yet to see how far I get on a full tank...

The 3.2l is def. the more efficient engine. The 4.0l uses more as roadtesters discovered in the 90ies.

Hi Bruce,

I think it's 5% ethanol...

Thanks for the information.

best wishes

I have a 2001, 3.2 and use 98 octane.
I average 10 to 11 litres/100k around town and out on the open road between 8 to 9 litres/100k, which I understand is pretty normal.
