My fuel level gauge in my 2003 xjr rarely works, resulting in a p0460 code and a cel. I bought a used one on ebay, and went to put it in. The Alldata diy says that you simply peel back the carpet in the trunk, and you can access the sensor on the tank and r&r it. When I peel back the carpet, the spot that it shows in the drawing does not have a sensor. It is simply the tank with depression where a sensor would logically go. Has anybody done a 2003 fuel level sensor on a xjr? I would love to know where it is. I am afraid that the book is wrong and it is some part of the fuel pump or something.....Any helP?

 

yeh, they're different, your car has the later 'in-tank' sender, part number....LNG2001AB - hope this helps. I'm afraid it's a tank out job...

I am trying to replace my 04 Jag XJ8 Fuel sending unit and I would like some advise of where it is the location and such, I read in the forum that it is located in the trunk or that I have to remove the back seat and it will be on the top LH side of the tank or something but I am not really sure since I am traveling I would like to know for sure where is located?
