Default Fuel pump failure

Had a couple of days of longer crank times and today no start.
Did not hear fuel pump run so checked fuses as ok.
Jumped the relay for pump one and it did not run but jumped relay for pump 2 and it did run and i was able to move the cat and get home. Once there, tried pump one again a few more times and it started 4 of the 5 times, but now measures basically a short circuit.
Interestingly, pump 2 now does not run and measures basically open circuit.
1. What are the chances they both fail virtually simultaneously, or is this a tank wiring issue, as well as them being worn?
2. I read the codes, as restricted performance came up during this jumping and the code was correct, no power to fuel pump.
Question is how does ecu know that the pump has no power?
Wiring diagram does not show any sense connection.
As i write this, i guess it could be sensing the 12V through the relay coil as a pump voltage?

Tank out this weekend i suppose.

Saw that some folk have used different pumps, URO, Airtek, denso. Any reason to use one more than another? Hard to tell differences and some seem to have seals and adapter plugs.
Seems part is common to Ford voyager?

Does signature appear when using Mobile app?

Maybe it sees no current flowing through the relay and assumes therefore that the pump cannot be on.
