Default gas cap area drainage

Anyone else have ice and water buildup around the gas cap on your XJ in winter climates? If so how did you deal with it?

Winter climates? Like when it gets below 60F? Just kidding Though I don't get Ice, I do get dirt and debris. I'm interested if anyone recommends a capful of Antifreeze for freezing temps and a capful of bleach for non-freezing climates.

I live in the UK and in the autumn/winter months the constant (almost) rain clogs up the little dirt trap and fills the entire space with water. I have had it happen overnight once! My rather simple solution is to keep a big long plastic cable tie in the boot, which I use to clear out the pipe. I think the people who designed the XJ8 assumed it would be stored in a garage :-)

I pulled that off and cleaned it but the drain tube itself appears to be clogged. I tried running clothes hanger wire through it but I suspect it wasn't long enough. When it warms up I'll probably try the bleach and maybe see if I can blow it out with compressed air.
