OK time to change gearbox filter and change the oil. I have searched this site but am unable to find the ultimate answer for what gearbox oil should be used in my 1999 X308 Sports (3.2L)
Any-one been down this road before and have the right answer? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Neil.

g'day
i have a 1999 x308 4.0 LWB Jag Sovereign.
I may need to do the same on my car , but i thought these units were sealed for life? or are they not ?
I have a transmaission overhaul certificate from the previous owner done some 5 years ago.. maybe i should do an oil change..will keep tabs on this post.
best
Peter

Osyris,Hi. No not sealed for life if you unseal it! I put car on hoist, drained the oil and removed trans pan. Removed the filter and replaced (brought online from British Spares)
Replaced the pan(with new gasket from the "kit") and filled with oil (there is a filler plug at the rear R/H/S just above the pan ZF box) Ran it through the gears and drained again refilled (4 Litres) and repeated. Maybe not the best option for changing fluid but was the best option I could find with available resources here in the "bush" Car works exactly the as it did before, which is good!! Finding the right fluid was my problem here in rural Australia. With the help from this forum I got the info I needed. Cheers..
