Default A gift from my University colleagues this weekend...

The paint now needs some serious attention. The day
after this happened I got a big scratch on the front right
fender, and previous to all this the car was covered in swirl
marks by a shop that decided to wash the car.

Frustration levels 10/10.

Holy crap! What is that?

I've been having a run of bad luck in the parking lot at work lately -- one in particular bothers me -- a long vertical dent that could only be done by the door of the car next to me -- it's on my passenger's side rear door, so it was probably someone getting something or someone out of the back seat of their car -- sure pisses me off when others aren't careful and cause damage, but your damage is particularly troublesome because it appears intentional.

Ouch, baked on egg is the worst. Usually etches kind of bad. I've had success in the past with using a high power spray nozzle at a self-service car wash and just getting really close at the edge of the egg and letting it chip it off bit by bit. But you can probably expect a little etching that will have to be sanded off and polished out. Not fun

Eggs, lots and lots of eggs.

I feel your pain man, I would be throwing trash cans at people right now.

Yeah, now that you say eggs, I can see eggs! I had that happen to a car in my driveway a few years ago and was lucky to catch it early and it washed right off. Good luck, man!

Hello OldMike,
I am picking up a 2003 XJ SPort this weekend with 28K miles. How has yours been treating you thus far, and what should I look out for?

Thanks!
Frank

Did you rinse it off ASAP? Do you know who did it and/or why?

Two things you never EVER mess with... a mans woman and a mans ride. This is solid grounds for the death penalty.

If I find out who is responsible, I will not hesitate to abide by
Hammurabi's code in their judgement. Each egg~= one kneecap,
right? Why else should I keep that hammer in the boot at all times?

Thanks for the sympathy Gerry, Bug Splat, p-Rock, Mike, cabezagrande

Jon, the perps are unkown. Otherwise their car would be devoid
of all auto glass (if they even have one). I washed it off immediately, it didn't
bake on but got rained on that night. The egg damage was mostly restricted
to the impact points, (paint chipping in circle shapes) but I am finding
little chunks of yolk every day.

I got back to my car one night in town, it looked like someone had thrown a can of paint at it, got up to the car heart racing and correction costs pinging round in my head, finger in the 'paint' only to find it was strawberry milkshake.....someone was going to die that night!
With things like this, warm soapy water on a towel usually lifts it. Mindless people eh?!

Today's not the best day to ask (I'm having it towed to the mechanic - long story but it's my fault, I messed it up!) -- love this car, best car I ever had!

Lanclements -- did you find out who did that to your car and why? Mindless act of terror, or what?

About 15 years ago, my wife and I were driving home after a Halloween Party. At a stop light, a couple teenagers pulled up beside us. I had my window down, and they threw a raw egg into my window. It hit me in the neck, and hurt quite a bit. What was amazing though is that it did NOT break! I reactively picked it up and threw it back into their window where it splattered all over both of them. It was the BEST Halloween I'd had in years!!! The look on their faces was PRICELESS!

We laughed about that for many years. I'm giggling now writing it.

Supersport... that's hilarious! Justice at its finest!

More great news on the Jaguar front this evening...
I am pretty sure a speaker let go, can't figure out
which one, but the bass isn't quite right anymore.
I was listening to the Moody Blues, and next thing
I know the bass sounds all muddly. Can't seem to
narrow it down just yet, but I hope it isn't the subwoofer.
The one speaker I don't know how to replace.

Car goes to the mechanic tomorrow for molybdenum
disulphide adding to diff (It is whining!!! Despite receipts
I have from a defunct dealer for a diff replacement 20k
ago)to hopefully kill noise, and I pick up my windshield
washer fluid reservoir from the dealer.
