You should have 2 light grey posts sticking out from either side of the dark grey cap about 1" the top. Those posts are your latches. If they aren't sticking out, then then are sticking in. Mine are a bit slow and I have to close mine a couple times sometimes. There is a single screw at the base of the dark grey cap for disassembly. You may just have to clean it or spray it with some dry silicone (after removal)....check that and get back to us.
Not sure if HH is referring to these "latches" on either side of the glove box, they are adjustable by loosening the torx screw. My problem was the opposite of yours, my glove box was loose and rattled, I adjusted the latches to be tighter and cured the rattle, you may have to loosen yours up a little to allow the glove box to latch when it is closed.
Thanks a bunch HighHorse. Problem solved (I think). Observed no pin on left, only on right. Pushed right pin in and left pin appeared. Latched easily. Will explore lube advice in future when we open it up. The car has many signs that it's set up for a long while before we got it and we're experiencing other issues of neglect. We had and loved it's twin back in '98 but lost her in Hurricane Ivan at Navarre Beach. Char saw and bought this one online and we'll probably still be bringing her back to order when we kick off. We're in south central Mississippi now and I fear available Jaguar mechanics are slim to none. As a retired dealer, I have domestic automobile knowledge and experience, but, considering my age and condition, I'm limited as to what I can do these days. These forums are a God send. Thanks a bunch again. bNc
thanks for the reply. Learning alot about how everything should work. My glove box is closed and latch just flops around so whatever is supposed to connect the mechanism is missing. Will be taking the the four screws out and will see what happens. Thanks Dave
I need to clean and lubricate my glove box latch mechanism. I can feel that whatever was on the pins originally has become quite tacky and when I reach over from the driver side to close it, often only one side will catch. To get it to close firmly, I have to do it from the passenger seat, close, hold tight with both hands and kind of jiggle it to ensure both pins move out far enough to engage. This was the most relevant previous thread I found in the X308 section, however, it seems nobody ever followed through and described how to do it. There's reference above to removing a single screw to access the latch mechanism, but all I see are these pictured below. I thought at first it was some sort of cap covering a screw head like in flat-pack/self assembly furniture (and there's three of them, not just one). But if it is, they're snapped in there pretty darned tight and I was afraid to use much force to pry it off, that maybe it was the head of one of those pushpin clips that the pin has already been broken off or a permanent thermoplastic rivet that's melted on the other side and it comes apart some entirely different way (I assume if this had come into a dealership back in the day, the prescribed procedure would be to replace the entire glove box door because the only part listed is for the whole assembly by interior color.). Any instructions how to gain access to the latch mechanism and what are these fasteners/how do they work?
I have to push mine from the center to lock squarely.
This is all that is in the X308 Workshop Manual, I think I have the pages in their correct order...they initially loaded backwards. I put them in word so you could download it and print it or whatever you want.
I understand, but perhaps saying you had one in The Marketplace would had been best, ..even with the link to it.
There are people who abuse simple posts and thus the following was instituted for all of us.
This is from the New Member Intro....
All advertising must be posted in MARKETPLACE but the posting of a "first" post in MARKETPLACE or any of our forums to sell an item is not acceptable. Please refrain from doing so as it will be removed and result in a permanent ban.
Highhorse do you have a link where we can download that X308 workshop manual?
With the forum losing a moderator we have lost many links to the old documents.

Thanks Highhorse but that was my point?
We have lost GGG and all his fine documents so the manual in your linked thread is now dead. We did just have another member looking for this to. I try to snag all the manuals I can and I don't have a copy of this one yet.
I didn't think we'd be allowed to post links to the manuals here, a lot of fora don't like it. But as it seems it's not the case here, I think this is what you're looking for.
I upload large files to a temporary website. The files don't last long but I can always reload them. I have been keeping the JEPC alive for a year or two.
You might try this web site? The JEPC was 1.3GB so it should be able to handle that 69MB file you want to share. Upload Large Files
Plus if you post the link on the forum many people can access it.
