Happy Story!
A couple of years ago bought a 1999 low mileage, red, XJ8 Jag for my wonderful Brit wife. Her father and uncle used to race Jags in England when and her grandfather raced Maseratis' at Brooklands.
She loved the car till all heck went wrong and she was stranded by a failsafe. I worked on it and with everyones help here and it has been running great.
She finally went back to driving her Jag.
Late yesterday I received a sobbing phone call from her about a lady that ran a stop sign and she swerved and the engine ... total babbling.
I went straight there and the car was fine but she was a wreck and the story began to unfold. She swerved and missed the other car by inches but then all heck broke loose. The car started smoking and making these terrible sounds and the red lights came on the dash so she just pulled over.
I checked and apparently when she swerved violently, a time worn radiator hose clamp gave way and released all the coolant in one big blast. Easy fix, but scared her to death.
I was worried that she would be scared from driving her Jag again. But at home after a couple of pints she remarked that if she would have been driving our Monte Carlo, she would have never been able to miss the other car.
Couldn't help but smile as she went on about the handling of her Jag and the fond memories of her father. She then went to her souvenir box, took out a Brooklands keychain she had bought on a visit there and put her Jag key on it.
Cheers,
