Was getting the low coolant warning about once a week and having to refill the reservoir. Didn’t see any leak around water pump or thermostat housing so added some fluorescent dye to coolant to hopefully spot leak. Didn’t see anything so checked dipstick oil with UV light. At night could barely see UV green, but in oil. Never had much faith in head gasket repair additives, but I added what is pictured below and worked. A month now and haven’t had to add coolant.
Thank you for the success report! I will be curious to hear from you again in a month or two to see if the repair holds. You could help a lot of other forum members.
My fear of that type of product is that maybe it could clog the small passages in the heater core. Have you noticed any issues with your heat?
Usually those products buy you a few weeks or months before failing. That said, i did have an old V6 Chevy, notorious for blown head gaskets. The more liquid type stuff did not hold. The cost to fix was more than car was worth. I bought a bottle of Barrs Blown Head gasket seal as a "before I take it to the junkyard" hail Mary play. It looked like paste with chunks of paper in it. Much to my surprise, it went another 30k miles before other issues did it in. I even used a block tester months later with no sign of leak
If the alternative is to junk the car, it's worth a shot. BTW, a block tester will tell you if the leak is really fixed.
