Hallo, if my question has been posted before I am deeply sorry because there is no search engine I could not find it. I have a 2000 XJ8 and my oem low beam headlight bulb has just burned out. I was wondering if there is a brand of light bulbs you guys would recomand? I think it is H7 and do you guys think those zeon white(blue) bulbs are really brighter than the normal oem bulbs? Where do you get oem parts other than the dealers?

It seems like the bulbs were H1 but I could be wrong. I do remember that the bulb type is actually stamped on the lens itself, and it's the same for low and high, and I think fogs as well.

The "Xeon" bulbs are a total fraud. Your most usable light is in the 4500-5000K (Kelvin) range. Those bulbs aren't very powerful, and they far exceed that range. A typical halogen is about 3000K. Sylvania SilverStar Ultras provide excellent usable light, but go out pretty quick. I've heard Philips and Osram make better versions in that range. Believe me, a standard halogen bulb is better than the "Xeon" bulbs.

What kind of OEM parts are you talking about? If you just mean headlights, then go to your local auto parts store. Other than that, usually dealer but it depends on the part.

 

Hi, Cerberus. Thank you so much for getting back to me so fast. I bought the Philips tri color Night Guide H-7. It's the best bulbs I have ever bought, they are even brighter than the stock bulb that came was on the car! Thanks again.
